For all you Buffet Chasers out there, there is a newly revamped menu at Orchard Cafe. The all new buffet spread now features authentic Peranakan dishes, traditional Asian roasts, seafood options and all-time local favorites.
There are Nyonya Hokkien Mee, Sambal Sting Ray, Ngoh Hiang, Cincaluk Omelette and Oyster Omelette just to name a few. You should definitely dig into those Kueh Pie Tee that’s topped with a dollop of the musky and herby flavored Buah Keluak. Other than that, hunt for the long-time favorite Ah Huat Braised Fatty Pork in a steam bun (aka Kong Ba Pao). Bite through a soft steamed bun into a piece of tender braised pork belly and let the flavors swirl through your mouth in an orchestrated choreography of pork and bun.
Of course, whats a Pernakan buffet line without the likes of Lembu Rendang, Nyonya Chap Chye, Babi Ponteh (LURVES!!), Ikan Kuah Lada and Ayam Buah Keluak (MAJOR LURVES!). You can say goodbye to your diet and smack on these delightful dishes with some fluffy steamed rice.
After the savory items, pig yourself out to the dessert line. Look out for the Chempedak Crepes. These soft pancakes are made fresh and you can choose to top it up with Gula Melaka syrup, Chocolate, Coconut or my favorite – The Cold Durian Pengat. If that is not up your alley, go for the traditional desserts like Tau Suan, Bubur Cha Cha or the myriad of Nyonya Kuehs.
