The hot pot scene in Singapore had been a steamy one by far and of course it comes with no surprise when the award-winning Chinese restaurant Hua Ting decided to branch out with a steamboat concept of their very own.
Here comes one of the newest players in the field – Hua Ting Steamboat.
Located at the newly re-developed Claymore Connect, Hua Ting Steamboat boast an extensive menu of over 150 items as well as 8 different soup bases for you to choose from. I got to try a couple of their soup bases and my favourite bases were the Tomato Soup with Century Egg and Coriander as well as the Shark’s Bone Cartilage Soup with Fresh Bean Curd Skin. The former was a sharp and fragrant soup packed full of umami goodness while the latter contrasted with much more smoother and subtle flavours.
Apart from the normal soup bases, the unique ‘Gan Guo‘ is available at this new place. Served to you already cooked, you can dig into it first then add in broth to ‘create’ a new steamboat base. This variation of the Cantonese steamboat was hit with me.
As far as the food goes, its pretty good quality for the price that you are paying for and its definitely one of the nicer and more conducive steamboat places you can choose from. Oh and I have to mention the plethora of condiments available for you to mix and match.
Prices starts from $26++ for set menus and $4 from the a la carte menu. They are opened for lunch from 11.30am to 2.30pm and dinner for 5.30pm to 10.30pm.
